"Making masterpieces new again for generations."
French polishing - hand rubbed the old fashioned way.
Gold Leaf - Art, frames, mirrors, furniture.
Lacquer Work - lustrous, glossy wood finish.
FRENCH POLISH is a high-gloss, mirror-like finish for wood that consists of shellac. It is a labor-intensive process of coating wood with a solution of shellac dissolved in alcohol, carefully applying with cotton wool instead of with a brush. The alcohol evaporates, leaving the shellac deposited upon the wood, producing the finest looking finish for furniture.
INLAY is the process of ornamenting a surface by setting into it material of different color or substance, usually in such a manner as to preserve a continuous plane.
MARQUETRY is the material, such as wood or ivory, inlaid piece by piece into a wood surface in an intricate design and veneered to another surface, especially of furniture, for decoration.
VENEER is thin slices of wood, usually thinner than 3 mm (1/8 inch), which are typically glued onto core panels (wood, particle board or medium-density fiberboard) to produce flat panels such as doors, tops and panels for cabinets, parquet floors and parts of furniture. They are also used in marquetry.
CARVING is a form of sculpting wood by means of a cutting tool held in the hand (this may be a power tool), resulting in a wooden figure or figurine (this may be abstract in nature) or in the sculptural ornamentation of a wooden object.
LACQUER is a clear or colored wood finish that dries by solvent evaporation or a curing process that produces a hard, durable finish. This finish can be of any sheen level from ultra matte to high gloss, and it can be further polished as required.
